Audio-visual and Photography

Access
The photo studio is open weekdays from 8:00 to 4:00.

Support
Ken Kam is responsible for the photo studio. He is also the Faculty photographer and can provide advice on lighting, composition, camera techniques for model and site photography, digital imaging, and printing/plotting.

No storage in the photo studio
To keep the photo studio clear for photography, student work must not be left there, either before or after photographing it. Any items left in the studio are assumed to be abandoned and will be discarded.

Photography

Equipment for use in the photo studio only
  • Nikon D90 SLR camera (12 megapixel)
  • copy stand
  • studio lights
  • tripods
  • two Canon digital video cameras (for lecture series only)
Equipment available for borrowing
  • miniature colour video camera for model photography
  • Nikon D70s SLR camera (6 megapixel)
  • Canon G12 camera
  • Canon A610 camera
  • slide projector
To be eligible to borrow equipment, students must have a valid DalCard and must sign the Faculty's borrowing agreement and submit it to the Faculty office. To borrow equipment, see Ken Kam.

Loan period
  • 1 day for still cameras, video cameras, slide projectors, and overhead projectors
Fines will be charged for items that are not returned on time.

Repairs
Problems with photographic equipment should be reported to Ken. If necessary, it will be forwarded to another university department.
