A research group including faculty members from the School of
Planning has received a research grant from the Canadian Institute
of Health Research for a six-year project. The project director
is Dr. Renee Lyons from the Atlantic Health Promotion Research
Centre. Jill Grant is one of 18 co-applicants from several universities
participating in the project, which will look into "Environmental
diagnostics for illness and injury prevention". The total
grant is about $2.3 million.
Patricia Manuel, Susan Guppy, and Jill Grant have developed a
research group within the School of Planning to look at health
and the built environment. They hope to link their research interests
to the funded project, which involves faculty members from universities
in Newfoundland, New Brusnwick, and Prince Edward Island. They
also hope to provide research opportunities for graduate students
in coming years.
