"Climate Change in the Halifax Regional Municipality"
On Wednesday, February 18, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design
(NSCAD)
environmental planning students presented the results of their
Fall 2003
studio project to the Regional Planning Committee of Halifax Regional
Municipality. The project, entitled:
"Climate
Change in the Halifax Regional
Municipality: What does it mean to us and how can we respond?"
was a
collaborative effort by planning students of NSCAD and Dalhousie
Universities. The project brief suggests principles to guide development
in Halifax over the next 25 years in the face of climate change.
This year graduate student Leticia Smillie was named as
an Academic All-Canadian. These awards go to students who earn
high academic standing while representing Dalhousie on a varsity
sports team. Leticia was captain of the women’s rugby team.
She and her academic mentor, Susan Guppy, attended a special ceremony
to honour the winners.
BCD student Miles Agar plays goal for the Dalhousie Tigers. Miles
was the first student to transfer to the new BCD program, and
hopes to be in the first graduating class as well. He came to
community design from history.
On Tuesday, 13 April from 9 am to 4 pm, the School of Planning
students will present their work from the 2003-2004 academic year.
The exhibition and presentation takes place in the Exhibition
room of the Architecture building at 5410 Spring Garden Road in
Halifax. All members of the public are invited to attend to see
the work we have been doing and to listen to students talk about
their projects.
